Clinical Negligence

Mr L received £2,100,000 after suffering cerebal palsy as a result of medical negligence. The first liability expert had advised there was no breach of duty of care, so the case was passed on to The Roland Partnership's eminent causation expert. The defendants vigorously denied liability and The Roland Partnership's expert said it was one of the most difficult cases he had dealt with. The claim was settled shortly before trial.

Mrs D received £1,500,000 following a straightforward hysterectomy in which her health authority failed to diagnose and treat internal bleeding before serious injury was caused. Mrs D suffered brain injuries that mainly affected her sight. Her claim was settled shortly before trial after negotiations through The Roland Partnership.

A hospital failed to diagnose serious head injuries of a patient who attended their Accident & Emergency Department, believing he was drunk. Half way through a hotly contested trial initiated by The Roland Partnership, the defendant settled the claim for over £800,000.

Mrs A underwent a straightforward hospital procedure. However, she subsequently developed internal bleeding which the doctors failed to diagnose and treat in sufficient time to prevent serious injuries. She received over £500,000 in compensation, negotiated by The Roland Partnership.

The Geriatric Department of a hospital failed to prevent and thereafter treat pressure sores suffered by one of their patients, a Roland Partnership client. We recovered £5,000 in damages on her behalf.

Serious Injury

£3,200,000 for a former Optician who suffered disabling head injuries in a road traffic accident in which her husband was killed.

An eight year old boy received £1,500,000 through The Roland Partnership after receiving serious injuries whilst waiting at a bus stop. Two cars crashed into the bus stop, causing it to collapse onto him, leaving him with personality changes and weakness on one side.

Mrs M was knocked down by a car when crossing a road. She was partly responsible for the accident, having run out into the road without first checking it was safe to do so. Nevertheless, she received over £1,100,000 after representation by The Roland Partnership.

A child was knocked over by a car when crossing the road. She recovered over £420,000 in compensation after representation by The Roland Partnership.

The Roland Partnership were asked to take over a fatal accident claim where a barrister had already advised the claimant that the value of the claim was in the region of £33,000. Following advice from The Roland Partnership, the claimant recovered £145,000 in damages.

Personal Injury

Mrs J, who worked for a doctor's surgery, slipped on a small area of mud on the lino floor, leaving her with a back injury. She sued her employer. The medical evidence was very complicated with the defendants maintaining Mrs J had sustained minimal injury. However, The Roland Partnership successfully recovered £20,000 on her behalf.

A motorcyclist recovered £105,000 in damages after being knocked off his bike while travelling round a roundabout. The defendant driver had changed lanes without seeing the motorbike and the rider suffered a number of cuts and bruises as well as a fractured kneecap (patella).

Mr G tripped on a raised manhole cover whilst out running. The Roland Partnership successfully sued the local authority on his behalf for failure to adequately maintain the highway and Mr G recovered £4,800 in damages.

Mr W received £12,500 after a lifting injury at work which left him with a hernia. Following negotiations by The Roland Partnership, including the commencement of court proceedings, the case was settled. However, Mr B was in receipt of means tested benefit which he risked losing upon receipt of his settlement cheque. The Roland Partnership therefore arranged for a Trust to be set up allowing Mr B to receive his settlement and also keep his ongoing benefits.

Mrs R received £7,400 after tripping whilst at work causing her to break her arm. Mrs S worked as a community carer and therefore her claim was against both her employers and the owners of the property where she fell. The case was settled after representation by The Roland Partnership, with the employer and property owner accepting 50% fault each.

Mr P received £3,800 following a Road Traffic Accident for whiplash injury to his neck and back as well as pain to his knees. He required physiotherapy which was arranged by The Roland Partnership.

Professional Negligence

£130,000 awarded against a firm of solicitors and a barrister for providing inadequate advice at Court resulting in the Claimant settling his claim for too low a figure.
